How Do We Plant The Seed Of Faith?

Faith, as a seed, must be planted. How do we plant the seed of faith? What did Jesus say? You plant faith seed in the spirit realm by speaking your faith. You plant the seed of faith with words. Next, you must leave the seed in the ground. That means you never change what you spoke. How many people would expect to get a harvest off of a seed they sowed if they dug up the seed every week?

Once you plant that seed of faith by speaking the word of faith, you have to wait on that seed to grow and produce.

This is how the kingdom operates. First, you look at faith as the seed. Then, you plant it by speaking. Next, you guard what you say. Do you talk gloom and doom, despair and agony? Are you repeating what the news is saying, what the devil is saying, what your body is saying, or what your brain is saying? Your brain will tell you the opposite of what is happening. No, you get that seed in the ground by speaking the Word of God. Then keep your seed in the ground by not changing what you have said.

This principle is illustrated in Jesus’ life. “Now the next day when they had come out from Bethany He was hungry. Seeing from afar off a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it, but when He came to it He found nothing but leaves, it was not the season for figs” (Mark 11:12). Obviously, this tree had a chemical imbalance or something because the leaves were evidence that the fruit should also be there. This tree was producing leaves out of season; it wasn’t in God’s order. So the Lord said, “Let no man eat fruit from you ever again” (Mark 11:14). There was something wrong with that tree so He cursed it by speaking a word of faith, “Let no man eat fruit from you ever again.” The story continues, “Now in the morning as they passed by they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. Peter, remembering, said to Him. ‘Rabbi, look, the fig tree which you cursed has withered away.’ And Jesus answering said to them, ‘Have faith in God, for assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain be removed and be cast into the sea and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things which he says will be done, he will have whatever he says ” (Mark 11:20-23 emphasis added).

You see, Jesus operated by the kingdom. That fig tree dried up from the roots because of the principle of the kingdom of God. Your cancer can dry up because of the principle of the kingdom of God. Your heart disease can leave because of the principle of the kingdom of God. Your poverty can turn to abundance because of the principle of the kingdom of God. Your wayward children can become sanctified and set on fire for God. All this comes to pass by the principle of the kingdom of God—not by wringing your hands and worrying.

This will change your life. In the next verse, Jesus said, “Therefore I say unto you, what things soever you ask when you pray believe you receive them and you will have them.” The reason Jesus said that is because these verses go together. When you pray, you believe, you receive what you pray for, and then you speak what you believe you have received. Speak what you want, not what you have. Jesus spoke what He wanted. He wanted the fig tree dried up from the roots. That is what He spoke and that is what He received.

Mark 11:23 mentions believing only once, but mentions saying three times. Read it again, “For assuredly I say to you, whosoever says to the mountain be removed and cast in the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but believes those things that he says, he shall have whatsoever he says.” What does that mean to you? It means you need to multiply your speaking the Word of God into your life. Get the seed of the Word of God in the ground and don’t change your confession . Hold fast the confession of your faith without wavering, faithful is He that promised, He also will do it” (Hebrews 10:23).

One of my favorite scriptures to confess when the devil attacks my mind is, “And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Thessalonians 5:23). Then I confess, “He who calls you is faithful who also will do it” (v. 24). I walk around saying those verses over myself. I say, “Lord, I thank you that you preserved my whole spirit, soul (that is my mind, will, and emotions) and body blameless. At your coming I will be whole. Faithful is He that said it—He is also going to do it. When you want a harvest of peace in your mind, when you want to be free from confusion, plant the seed of the Word of God by faith. Do this by speaking this scripture over your life.
