The first thing you must do to have victory over your problems is to realize that God has promised it to you. God desires your deliverance from problems regardless of the realm they are in whether spiritual, physical, financial, or social. Secular psychiatry tells us that we must accept our problems and learn to adjust to them as our lot in life, but that is not God’s plan for you. We must set our sights on the Godly counsel of the Bible where we find God’s wisdom concerning our problems.
PSALM 119:24 “Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.”
What does God say regarding His will to help you solve problems?
The apostle Paul gives his understanding of the subject in 2 CORINTHIANS 2:14 “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” We are told in this passage that total triumph is promised the believer in Christ. We are to realize that God will always cause His people to triumph regardless of the dilemma. (Read the last chapter of Revelation). That is the approach we must take in dealing with the difficulties that confront us daily at home, on the job or anywhere. There’s victory in Jesus for you. Praise God!
LUKE 10:18-19 “And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Jesus is telling His followers that the reason they were given authority over the devil was so that no harm could ever come to them. Praise God! He doesn’t intend that you ever be harmed in any way. He says in PSALM 91:10 “No evil shall befall you,” With the problems we do face we must know that God our Father is not the cause, we must remember that there is a devil, our adversary who is seeking to steal, kill, and destroy during every moment of every day. Satan is the tormentor, oppressor, thief, and destroyer. To win life’s battles over the devil we must know that TOTAL VICTORY is God’s will for us and is promised in the Word.
As we look to God’s people under the Old Covenant, we find that they could never be defeated no matter what the odds as long as they were faithful to Jehovah. The Lord continually caused them to triumph in the face of every impossibility regardless of whether it was against starvation, thirst, the elements, opposing armies, or soldiers. Nothing could harm them. They were threatened and even attacked just like you and I will be, but when they believed the prophets they were invincible. PROVERBS 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.”
You must be convinced that God is on your side and that when He is fighting for you, the size of the enemy really doesn’t matter, total victory is guaranteed. Consider David the shepherd boy. All by himself, he more than likely was was no match for Goliath. However, David never considered anything but total victory before he ever entered the battle. The size of the opposition wasn’t a factor, all David was conscious of was the “Giant” that was on his side. Whatever giants are threatening you whether divorce, sickness, lack, fear of habits, accept the fact that total victory is your promise through Christ. 2 CORINTHIANS 1:20 “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” The reason the armies of Israel were sitting in defeat being railed on by their enemy was that they didn’t have hope. PROVERBS 13:12 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.”
Can you imagine being in God’s army going out to war against God’s enemy and not knowing for sure if God wants you to win? That would let some of the steam out of your boiler. You could not put forth your best effort. But when you know God wants you to win you are filled with boldness and determination, that’s what made David different from the rest. Satan wants to cast doubt into your mind on the issue, he knows that if you don’t believe that TOTAL VICTORY is God’s will for you, you probably won’t stay in the fight long because you will be double minded and unstable. When you are unstable you are likely to topple. God’s will is for you to win every battle through faith in Him, don’t let the possibility of defeat enter your thinking.
MATTHEW 19:26 “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Paul tells us in PHILIPPIANS 4:19 that God will supply all of our needs by Christ Jesus. There is absolutely nothing you need that will be withheld from you as a child of God if you will realize God desires your TOTAL VICTORY. This may sound a bit ideal to some because we have been led to believe that God’s program for our lives includes sickness, poverty, and other unfortunate happenings. No, if you will turn to the pages of the Bible you will find out that even though God’s people have encountered many trials and difficulties He has always be “the deliverer”. PSALM 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” That is a promise of TOTAL VICTORY for all that live righteously in Christ Jesus. We must set our sights for those things which God says are possible to us, we cannot accept anything less for ourselves than what God has told us to expect. God will be glorified through our lives and His victory clearly revealed to the world through His people as we begin to renew our minds and believe what He has said. We need to develop a mentality that says “I cannot be defeated in this problem I’m going though”. Like David of old we must say when surrounded by trouble PSALM 27:1-3 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident.”
Don’t let the devil, who is the “god of this world system” tell you that you must learn to accept certain problems as God’s will and humbly learn to bear your burdens when the Bible says that “Jesus is the Burden Bearer” (ISAIAH 53:4-5). One scripture that has been used as a catch-all verse when people feel defeated by the problems of life is 1 CORINTHIANS 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” Many times we hear people say when their family is in disarray or sickness strikes “O well, you know the Lord won’t give us more than we can carry in this life I guess He knows what we can handle so I just accept it.” And all along deep down inside we are really questioning why God would want or allow all these things to happen to us. Folks, God wants you to know that He is a Wonderful Counselor (ISAIAH 9:6) and that His desire is to show you how to solve your problems so that you may live a quiet and godly life, free from all the molestations of the devil. Therefore you must determine that God is on your side and that you will not accept anything less than victory over your problems. HEBREWS 13:5-6 “The Lord is my Helper”, not hinderer.
